Cheryl McKinney is a Professional Masters level Clinician, with over 20 years of experience and education working with various cultures and diversities. Although for the vast majority of my devotion has been working in the counseling field I am also a trained Health and Wellness coach, I have also worked in the education field as a substitute teacher and owned my own daycare. I went to school at Anna Maria College for my Master’s Degree and Adcare Educational Institute for my Addiction Counseling Certificate. Currently I am going to school for my second master’s degree in social work. My Specialty areas include but not limited to : communication, commitment, empathy, listening, planning, interpersonal skills, adaptability, leadership, and resiliency. While my counseling career started out in 2002 where I had counseled Adults , Children, and Families , this is predominately where I became familiar with so many difficult situations and learned that people can have so many difficult behaviors no matter what age they are. This is where I learned how to cope and manage the difficult behaviors with trial and error. I therefore feel that I have learned so much along the way in my career and I can relate more deeply and grasp onto things on a much deeper and professional level and can be there to help you work through your difficult time of change. We can work this out through my strategies of: Cognitive behavior Therapy, motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Techniques, Person-centered techniques, Reflective Listening, Empathy Listening, Family therapy, Addiction counseling, Solution-focused therapy, grief counseling, and I do believe in your higher power. What ever that may be!!
